GILLA BAND POST RYAN

Irish noise band Gilla Band (formerly Girl Band) release 'Post Ryan', the last single before the release of their new album Most Normal. Originally a hair-metal style track written for a friend of the band's birthday, the band repurposed the bones of the song and built it up into a driving post-punk noise track with a perpetual undulating bass drone, dissonant claps of distorted noise and the closest they've come to a clean guitar tone in their career. "This probably took the longest time out of all the tracks. The words of the track were originally really silly,” singer Dara Kiely explains. “There’s was a line about wearing Christmas socks all year round. Stupid stuff. It didn’t really fit the tone. The lads wanted me to get out of my comfort zone and write something really direct. This was the exact opposite of the approach we had for our last album, The Talkies. Felt very naked. I had to leave the room when I showed them my demo of the new vocals." -Toby Evans-Jesra
